Alyssa Patton

Junior High Band Director/HS Assistant Band Director
Hello everyone! My name is Alyssa Patton, and I am the Weimar Junior High Band Director, as well as the Weimar High School Assistant Band Director. My primary instrument is Flute, though I love learning about, and playing, nearly anything. I am entering my 3rd year of teaching, and I am very enthusiastic about starting my journey with the band program at WISD. While I do enjoy watching my students achieve success in larger settings, such as contests and performances, my true passion is the smaller successes that happen behind the scenes, in the classroom. Watching my students enter the room at the beginning of the year as one version of themselves, and exit later as better musicians who have grown in independence, self-confidence, self-worth, and who have created irreplaceable bonds with those around them, has become the fuel to my fire for music.
I was originally born and raised just a few miles away in La Grange, TX. I have an Associate of Arts with a Field of Study in Music from Blinn-College. I transferred from there to attend Sam Houston State University, where I received a Bachelor of Music (All-Level Instrumental focus). I worked in Louise ISD for 2 years, where I served as the district’s Elementary Music Teacher, Junior High Band Director, and the High School Assistant Band Director. While fostering growth in the Junior High programs, I accompanied the High School Band as they participated in 2 consecutive State Marching Competitions, along with the first 2 UIL Sweepstakes awards in the program's history. Alongside teaching, I currently perform on a seasonal basis with the Crossroads Community Band in Victoria, TX, as well as playing smaller gigs such as weddings & private events in off-seasons from Marching Band.
