 English I

Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year!  9th grade English I.  I can't wait to introduce you to literature that will motivate you to read and write.  My goal is to create a stress free environment where reading/writing and learning are the main priority.  This will be my 30th year to teach.  Time flies by when you love what you do!  Accelerated Reading will be used as part of the curriculum in my room.  Each student will receive a goal based on individual ability; the student will strive to achieve that goal by the end of the six weeks.  Reading time will be built into class time, BUT the student must also take at least 20 minutes a day to read at home.  This is very important.  We will strive for reading time outside the classroom.

A little about me...I was born in Houston, Texas, and ended my K-12 education in Rosenberg, Texas at Lamar Cons. High School.  I attended Texas A&M (whoop!).  I taught back in my home town of Rosenberg for my first three years.  I moved back to Bryan/College Station and taught in Bryan ISD for eleven years (also a one year stint in College Station ISD).  I decided I need a smaller area so I accepted a job in El Campo ISD where I taught for four years. This will be year eleven in WISD! I actually retired in May, but I'm returning as a rehire and will teach half of the day.   My husband and I enjoy traveling, fishing, Aggie football, and hanging out with our children.
