Weimar ISD would like to thank everyone who took the time to learn about the 2026 Bond Propositions, attend our community meetings, ask questions, and ultimately cast their vote.
Both Proposition A and Proposition B did not receive the voter approval necessary to pass.
While we are disappointed in the outcome, we respect the decision of our community. Our responsibility now is to listen, learn, and continue moving forward together.
The needs that led the Board of Trustees to call this election—facility improvements, safety and security, CTE opportunities, and continued investment in our students remain important. In the weeks and months ahead, the Board and administration will evaluate those needs, consider the feedback we received throughout this process, and determine the best path forward within the resources available to the district.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who participated in the process, regardless of how you voted. Strong communities are built when people are willing to be involved, ask questions, share their perspectives, and make their voices heard.
Our commitment has not changed.
We will continue working every day to provide our students and staff with the opportunities, resources, and learning environment they deserve.

This week, we want to recognize and thank our amazing Weimar ISD counselors—our everyday MENTAL HEALTH HEROES!
Our counselors do so much more than help students with classes and schedules. They provide a listening ear, offer encouragement, help students navigate challenges, and make sure our Wildcats know they have someone in their corner.
Whether it's helping a student through a difficult day, celebrating a personal victory, or simply being there when someone needs to talk, their impact reaches far beyond the classroom.
Thank you for the compassion, patience, and heart you bring to our schools every single day! You make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and staff, and we appreciate you!

It's School Bus Safety Week, and we want to give a BIG THANK YOU to our incredible Weimar ISD bus drivers! 🚌
Every morning and afternoon, these dedicated individuals take on the tremendous responsibility of safely transporting our students. They're often the first smiling faces our Wildcats see in the morning and the last ones to wish them a good afternoon.
Driving a school bus takes patience, dedication, and a whole lot of heart! Our drivers go above and beyond to make sure our students get where they need to be safely.
We appreciate everything you do for our students, families, and district! You are an important part of what makes Weimar ISD special!

Professor Wonder is trading in the circuits for some chilly chemistry! Students in 1st–4th grades are invited to discover how to make ice cream without a freezer using ice, salt, and a little Wildcat science!

This month’s Wonder Lab will be held in conjunction with our Scholastic Book Fair Family Night, which begins at 4:30 PM! Families can begin shopping at 4:30, and Wonder Lab students can join them when the experiment ends at 4:45.

We know this is one of the biggest questions surrounding the upcoming Weimar ISD Bond Election, and we want our community to understand the facts!
🗳️ WHY DOES THE BALLOT SAY THAT?
Texas law requires EVERY school district bond proposition to include the statement “THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.”
This language is required whether or not the district projects an increase to its current tax rate or not. It reflects the authorization of bond debt backed by property taxes, not necessarily an increase to the tax rate.
💰 SO WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR WEIMAR ISD?
Weimar ISD projects NO INCREASE to our current total school district tax rate if the proposed bonds are approved based on current taxable property values.
How is that possible?
Through years of responsible financial management, our district has been able to pay down previous bond debt ahead of schedule. This has created the financial capacity to take on the proposed projects while maintaining our existing tax rate.
Essentially, as previous debt is paid off, we have the opportunity to use that existing debt-payment capacity for new facility improvements rather than increasing the tax rate to pay for them.
🏫 WHAT ABOUT MY PROPERTY TAX BILL?
It's important to understand the difference between a tax rate and a tax bill.
Even if Weimar ISD maintains its current tax rate, an individual's property tax bill can still change due to property valuations, exemptions, or tax rates established by other taxing entities all of which Weimar ISD has no control over.
OUR COMMITMENT IS TO PROVIDE CLEAR, TRANSPARENT INFORMATION.
We want every voter to understand what is being proposed, how it would be funded, and what it means for our district and community.

Proposition B focuses on proposed improvements to three of Weimar ISD's outdoor athletic facilities: Veterans Park/Strickland Baseball Field, the Ladycat Softball Stadium, and Wildcat Stadium, .

⚾ VETERANS PARK / STRICKLAND BASEBALL FIELD
One of Weimar's most recognizable athletic facilities, Veterans Park has a rich history and tradition. The proposed renovations are designed to modernize the facility while preserving the character that makes it special!
✅ New grandstands with stadium-style seating
✅ Updated backstop and netting system
✅ New covered batting cages and bullpens
✅ Baseball field improvements
✅ Updated signage and restroom facilities
The conceptual designs incorporate the park's traditional character and historic signage while introducing updated facilities for student-athletes and spectators.
🥎 LADYCAT SOFTBALL STADIUM
Proposed improvements to our Ladycat Softball facilities include:
✅ Backstop renovations
✅ Improvements to the playing surface
✅ New LED lighting
✅ Updated signage and restroom facilities
🏈 WILDCAT STADIUM — FOOTBALL
🏟️ Increases seating for Wildcat football games and other stadium events. The rendering shows an additional 6 rows added to the top of the current stands. The current pressbox will be raised to sit above the additional stands.
Our goal in developing these concepts has been to address existing facility needs while maintaining the character and traditions of our athletic programs.
💰 NO PROJECTED INCREASE TO THE WISD TAX RATE!
Through responsible financial planning and the early repayment of previous bond debt, Weimar ISD currently projects that both bond propositions can be financed without increasing the district's total tax rate.
State law requires school bond ballots to include the statement "THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE."

Weimar ISD will not have classes on Monday, October 19. The entire day has been set aside for Parent/Teacher Conferences.
This is an important opportunity to connect with families following the completion of the first nine-week grading period and the distribution of report cards.
For our Title I campuses — Weimar Elementary School (WES) and Weimar Junior High (WJH) — Parent/Teacher Conferences are required. Teachers should have already contacted parents to schedule a specific conference time.
At all WISD campuses, our teachers will be available throughout the day to meet with parents and guardians. If you would like to visit with one of your child’s teachers and have not already scheduled a time, please reach out to the teacher or campus to make arrangements.
Parent/Teacher Conferences provide a great opportunity to review student progress, celebrate successes, discuss areas for growth, and make sure we are working together to support each student as we begin the next nine weeks.

Today, we're taking a closer look at Proposition A and sharing conceptual renderings of the facility improvements proposed as part of the November 3, 2026, Weimar ISD Bond Election!
WHAT'S INCLUDED IN PROPOSITION A?
Wildcat Works & Career Technical Education — Wildcat Works, a student-operated storefront designed to bring our Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs together in a real-world business environment! The vision is to create a community-facing retail space where students can showcase, market, and sell products they create through their CTE classes. Additionally, this bond creates a new welding shop, new culinary arts facilities, a health science lab and floral design labs, and expanded opportunities for hands-on career preparation.
New Gymnasium & Band Facilities — A new gymnasium with concessions and restrooms, continued use of the current gym for practice and auxiliary activities, and additional space for our band program.
Campus Renovations — Updated hallways, restrooms, flooring, lighting, signage, and exterior improvements at our Elementary and High School campuses.
Safer, More Efficient Traffic Flow — Expanded Elementary drop-off areas and covered canopy, improved Junior High pickup and drop-off routes, and additional parking improvements.
Safety & Security — Renovated security vestibules and campus entrance improvements at the High School and Elementary.
