Good health is basic to sound education and productive living. The purpose of the school health program is to maintain, improve and promote the health of the school-age child. Healthy students learn better!
WAYS TO PROMOTE A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT FOR STUDENTS AND STAFF:
- Always keep your child home if an elevated temperature and/or vomiting is present. Temperatures should be normal (less than 100 degrees) and the child should not have vomited for 24 hours before he or she returns.
- Criteria for sending students home include but are not limited to temperatures over 100.0 degrees, vomiting and communicable diseases.
- Please notify the school nurse if your child develops a communicable disease or condition (chicken pox, head lice, impetigo, scarletina/scarlet fever, pink eye, ringworm etc.)
- If your child becomes ill or is injured during the school day; you, the parent or guardian, will be notified. (Emergency information cards should be kept current). No student will be sent home without contacting the parent or guardian first. The parent or guardian will be responsible for arranging transportation home for the student.
- Children should be dressed appropriately for the season and specific weather. Coats can always be taken off!
- It is important that your child eat a nutritional breakfast every day before coming to school.
- Please refer to school calendar/handbook for medication procedures and health screening information.
- Parents should contact the school nurse regarding health concerns for their children. All information is confidential and will be shared with appropriate school personnel when needed to meet your child's health and safety needs.
